A Sad and Premature End to our Season

Sadly, Magnus was badly injured a few days ago and he’s had to be put to sleep.  We’ll all miss him because he was such a battler.  He always tried hard, never gave up and we were looking forward to having him as a three year-old in 2018.

After a busy period where Magnus ran at Leicester, Chester and Haydock Park, we gave him a month’s break and brought him out at Chester again in early September.  He ran so well and so bravely once more, but the heavy ground and strong pace combined to get the better of him and he was second, with four and a half lengths back to the third horse.

We we’re looking forward to seeing him race again throughout October, but sadly it wasn’t to be.  The two photo’s were taken at Chester when he was second.

Magnus Continues to Please

Magnus at Chester and at Leicester (apprentice Paddy Pilley up).

An encouraging fourth at Leicester on his first start over seven furlongs was followed by a sixth at Chester where he was very unlucky in running.

We’re taking him back to Haydock Park next in a seven furlong nursery where we hope he’ll get much more involved at the finish.

Our colt Magnus is Featured on ITV

ITV’s Granada Reports produced a great video of our Partnership, Magnus and Manor House Stables.  We all thoroughly enjoyed watching it on TV.

Magnus is a Brave Third at Haydock Park

Despite giving weight to most of the field, Magnus put in a terrific effort to be third, beaten less than a length, in the first Nursery of the season.  He was finishing best of them all, so it seems we have plenty to look forward to when we step him up to seven furlongs.

Looking a picture in the paddock before finishing strongly in a tight finish.

Magnus to run at Haydock Park

Our two-year-old colt Magnus is none the worse for his exciting trip to Royal Ascot and we’re due to see him at Haydock Park tomorrow (5th July).  He’s running in the first nursery (a 2-y-o handicap) of the season, so it’ll be interesting to see how he fares.

Magnus Takes the Partnership to Royal Ascot

After winning nicely at Wetherby we felt Magnus had earned the right to take his place in the Windsor Castle Stakes next.  So off we went to the Royal meeting for what was a great day out for the Partnership!  Magnus, ridden by one the top jockeys in Andrea Atzeni, found the five furlongs on good to firm ground too sharp for him, but he’ll be back.

Magnus Wins at Only the Third Time of Asking!

Magnus showed he can handle soft ground when winning a 2-y-o median novice race at Wetherby today over five and a half furlongs.  He’s a genuine horse, we’re very pleased with him and he should improve further.

Well done to trainer Tom Dascombe and to jockey Ben Curtis who rode an excellent race.

Good boy Magnus!

Magnus Ready To Make His Debut At Ripon!

Our two-year-old colt Magnus is all set to make his debut. Trainer Tom Dascombe is happy with his progress and the Partnership will be out in force to see him!
